PHP5

I just migrated the site to PHP5 from PHP4. This statement won’t mean much to most of you, but it could result in sections of the site breaking or not displaying properly. I’ve done some testing on my own, but if you notice anything that is broken, please report it to me.

Don’t forget to RSVP!

Invitations should be in the mail today or tomorrow. I spent all morning Saturday printing them – they just need to be addressed and sent out.

RSVP Section Added

I finished adding the RSVP section to the website in preparation for sending out the invites. The invites should go out the door tomorrow or Saturday. We’ve been slammed with preparation work and other work lately, and we haven’t been as timely with the invitations as we would have liked. If you want to check out the RSVP section, go here: http://www.kelseyandkevin.com/rsvp.

On the nerdy side, I created some custom functions so that the code entered into the database would be valid XHTML 1.1 so when it prints to the screen out of the database it validates. That means that we don’t have to worry about converting all of our text to HTML overrides in order to preserve the valid XHTML of the site – the code on the back-end does it for us. Hooray.

Hopefully I’ll get some time in the near future to be able to post the rest of the photos that I have. I’m about halfway through the Christmas photos, and I have a bunch more to post, just no time lately.

I hope everyone is looking forward to the big day! I know we are!

Surprise Shower

There was a conspiracy! My whole family was in on it and the family that will soon be mine too! On Saturday, my sisters threw for me a surprise bridal shower at the Danville Elks. It was fantastic! We were dressed in 1920’s attire and enjoyed a wonderful meal and visits from out of town friends and family. In addition to the many wonderful gifts I was showered with to help me enter this next stage of life prepared. I, of course not knowing about the party (even with my young nephews having knowledge and the invitations not having the detail of the party being a surprise on them) arrived in jeans and a sweater! After being completely dumbfounded for a few moments I was whisked away from my fiance’ and the party to change into my costume. I got to wear a dress of my paternal grandmother’s my mom had brought for me to change into. It was a great party! We dressed some friends and relatives in toilet paper wedding gowns and Jill, the groom’s mom won the Hot Hunk Game, by popping a balloon that had Kevin’s photograph inside! I am so grateful to all of you who helped make the day very special for me. Even those of you who couldn’t make it fear not your thoughts were with me Saturday. And want to thank you all for the wonderful gifts. Kevin and I will use them with fond memories of the friends and family who love and support us in this adventure of love.

100 Valentine’s Days

February 14th is always a day of love and friendship of happiness and romance. It is especially true when you are planning a wedding and by coincidence this is also the 100 day mark to Kevin and I’s wedding. It is 5pm as I am writing this which is the time of the ceremony and while I’m not ready yet I’d do it tonight if I could. Kevin and I are excited to have a party with all of you. We can’t wait to tell you all how we feel about each other (hopefully very eloquently!). We are excited to hear from many of you that you are planning on coming! Invitations will be sent out before too long. Many of you received our save-the-dates, if you did not get one do not fret! It appears the United States Postal Service lost about 50 of them, I believe they are in the Atlanta Georgia “Dead Mail” center. Sorry, I tried I went to the post office and mailed them with the correct postage.

Yeah for the 100 Days Countdown and Happy Valentine’s Day to all of you.

And We Are Having A Wedding

Yes, we are getting married and with such we are planning a wedding. Some of you have received our Save-the-Dates, if you haven’t yet you will be shortly keep checking your mailbox. Tonight, Kevin and I went to a coffeehouse to do some work and I wandered through the store and found the perfect guestbook for the wedding! Yes you will all get to sign your name and write your wishes for us on the book I bought tonight!! Ok, so for most of you (or maybe all of you) this is not even remotely important. However, this was probably the first item I have bought without thinking it through just because it felt right. It was the perfect thing (well as perfect as a guestbook can be!). I am so excited and I think Kevin just thinks I’ve gone crazy and that finals are really taking a toll on me. Anyhow, until later there is an update on the wedding… we now have our guestbook start thinking about what you’ll write to us!
